Practice Policy and Schedule 2025

Practices are daily and will include land and water training. Swimmers should plan on arriving 5 minutes early to stretch/discuss practice with the coach. Attendance is taken at each practice. Morning swim practice may be cancelled if the minimum air temperature is not 50◦F by 6:00am. All three practices would be cancelled. An email communication will be sent by 6:00am if practices are to be cancelled.

*Please note practice times are based on age and ability and may change for individual swimmers.

For the first week of practice, it is mandatory that swimmers attend their age-based practice time unless previously communicated by Coach Hazel and Sici.  All swimmers will be assessed the first week of practice to determine the best-fit practice time.  A practice time change may be communicated to a swimmer by Coach at the end of the first week.  If there is a question about which practice your swimmer(s) should attend, please discuss with the coaches directly.

Practice 1: Age: 12 and older (swimmers who attend this practice are strong and experienced swimmers, can swim all 4 strokes well, do flip turns and dives and can hold interval set times. Practice is based on competing in 100-meter races).

  • 6:20 to 6:25: stretching, land drills
  • 6:25 to 7:40: swim practice

Practice 2: Age: 9 to 12 year olds (swimmers who attend this practice can swim all 4 strokes, dive and do flip turns but may need direction in improvement of stroke/dive/turns. Practice is based on competing in 50 meter races).

  • 7:35 to 7:40: stretching, land drills
  • 7:40 to 8:40: swim practice

Practice 3: Age: 8 and under (swimmers are able to swim a lap and can do 2 strokes, working towards dives and turns. Practice is based on competing in 25-meter races.).

  • 8:35 to 8:40: stretching, land drills
  • 8:45 to 9:30: swim practice

Parents are welcome to watch practice. If you need to talk with the coach, please talk with them after practice. Their primary duty is the safety of your child. During practice time, coaches request that parents sit away from the pool-the West pavilion. Swimmers enjoy that their parents want to watch, but the coaches need all of the swimmer's attention on swimming. Thank you for understanding.
