Ken Caryl Invite June 21 and June 22
The Ken Caryl Invite is this Friday and Saturday, June 21 and June 22. Time breakdowns are below. Once all teams submit entries, we will receive and post the volunteer requirements. We’ve had quite a few swimmers qualify, so expect several timing opportunities. In the past, the team has tried to set up as a group on the southeast end of the grounds outside the pool area (think directly east of the playground and picnic tables). If you have canopies, this is a great place to bring them.
Friday June 21: 13&Over 400s warmup 8am, start 9am.
Friday June 21: 13&Over All other events warmup 10am, start 11am.
Saturday June 22: 12&Under warmup 6am, start 7am.
Speeding Ticket Store
The first Speeding Ticket Store will be held this Tuesday, June 18, during morning practice. Make sure to keep track of and bring your speeding tickets from your family mailboxes to use as currency at the Store. The store owner has been busy preparing special items for sale. If you can’t shop at the June speeding ticket store, the second one will open the week before the League meets.
Looking Ahead
Mile Swim and Swim a Thon: Mile Swim Day will be Monday, June 24, during regular practice times. Swimmers will be attempting to swim a mile (64 lengths) or a half mile (32 lengths). Please note parents/care givers/siblings need to be at the pool to count lengths for our swimmers. Tally sheets and writing utensils will be available at the pool. Your swimmers will be amazed to see how far they can go. The Mile Swim Day is an optional Swim a Thon fundraiser. Sponsor/Tally sheets are attached for use.
June 29 meet @ Home: The regular dual meet schedule returns June 29 when we will have the second home meet at Normandy Pool against Woodbourne.
July 4 Holiday and Meet Schedule: Coaches Frankie, Esha, Hazel and Will will be traveling through the July 4 holiday (this was traditionally a bye week for summer swim, but that changed unexpectedly this year!). Never fear, coaches Julianna, Peggy and Dena will be expertly taking care of all of us during their absence. There will be no practice on Thursday, July 4. The final dual meet of the season is away at Ken Caryl on July 6.
League Championship Meets: League Championships are broken into Silver and Gold meets. Gold distance events and the Silver League Championship are Friday, July 12, at Bear Creek. The Gold League Championship is Saturday, July 13, at Governor’s Ranch. Meet results highlight whether swimmers have made a qualifying Gold time.
State Meet: The final qualifying meet of the season is the Jim Fernald State Championship meet. The meet will be broken up into distance and age group events July 19-21. Stay tuned for updates.
Please note a service dog may be on pool grounds during the upcoming weeks and is in training. As such, please don’t disturb the dog’s important work. All other pets are still requested to be kept off pool grounds. And, remember to keep taking those photos for our end of year slideshow (sometimes it's our kids who take the best photos!). Happy Father’s Day and enjoy some sunshine.
