PCST Weekly Update

Congratulations on another win, Piranhas. Many great races and time drops and oh so close on legal strokes. The improvements week to week are very noticeable. Now, on to a busy week at PCST. By now, swimmers have confirmed with Coach Frankie entries for KCI or Gator. Good luck to all of you!

Gator Open June 21

The PCST Gator Open is this Wednesday, June 21, at Normandy Pool. The Gator Open is a virtual meet against all other South Jeffco Swim League teams. Start times are below. Gator swimmers, you do not need to arrive until 7:15am for 7:20am for warmup. KCI swimmers, pay attention to the pre-Gator practice times.

6:15am-7:15am KCI Practice – 13 and over KCI Qualifiers

7:10-7:55am KCI Practice – 12 and under KCI Qualifiers

7:20-7:50am – Gator Open Swimmer Warm Up

8:00am – Gator Open Start

We still need several volunteers for Gator and hope to see a lot of our KCI swimmers stay to help and cheer. We could use the help of the bigger swimmers with timing, heating, etc. Kona Ice will be there at 8am!

Ken Caryl Invite June 23 and June 24

The Ken Caryl Invite is this Friday and Saturday, June 23 and June 24. Time breakdowns are below. Once all teams submit entries, we will receive and post the volunteer requirements. We’ve had quite a few swimmers qualify, so expect several timing opportunities. In the past, the team has tried to set up as a group on the southeast end of the grounds outside the pool area (think directly east of the playground and picnic tables). If you have canopies, this is a great place to bring them.

Friday June 23: 13&Over 400s warmup 8am, start 9am.

Friday June 23: 13& Over All other events warmup 10am, start 11am.

Saturday June 24: 12&Under warmup 6am, start 7am.

Speeding Ticket Store

The first Speeding Ticket Store will be held this Thursday, June 22, during morning practice. Make sure to keep track of and bring your speeding tickets from your family mailboxes to use as currency at the Store. Store owners have been busy preparing special items for sale.

Looking Ahead

Mile Swim and Pirates Cove June 27: Mile Swim Day will be Tuesday, June 27, during regular practice times. Swimmers will be attempting to swim a mile (64 lengths) or a half mile (32 lengths). Please note parents/care givers/siblings are needed to act as length counters for our swimmers. Tally sheets and writing utensils will be available at the pool. Your swimmers will be amazed to see how far they can go. We will also use Mile Swim Day as our rescheduled Pirates Cove outing. Fingers crossed for a better weather forecast for a day at the waterpark.

Bye Week: There will be a holiday bye on Saturday, July 1, due to the 4th of July holiday. Therefore, no meet on Saturday, July 1, and no practice July 3, 4 or 5. Practice will resume July 6 with a quick turnaround meet on Saturday, July 8 at Governor’s Ranch.

State Meet (yes, the State meet!): We’ve now got details on the State Meet schedule and want to pass that on for qualifiers and those who have goals to qualify for planning purposes. The State Meet will be held July 28-July 30 at Ken Caryl Pool. The breakdown for age groups and events is below.

Friday, July 28 All Ages Distance Events: Ages 13-18 400 Freestyle; Ages 8 & under 100 Freestyle; Ages 9-18 200 Freestyle. Warmup 5:15pm. Start 6:00pm.
