PCST Weekly Update
Piranhas! You very successfully completed a first swim meet in less than desirable weather conditions. What a brave and tenacious team, all with smiles through shivering blue lips. Hope you’re enjoying a warm morning inside on what could’ve been an even worse swim meet day. State and Ken Caryl Invite qualification times are now available and are attached to this email and on Swimtopia.
Family Mailboxes
Don’t forget to start checking your family mailboxes. Two black boxes with your family’s file folders will be sitting on the picnic tables under the pavilion. Starting this week, the mailboxes will have ribbons and speeding tickets for your swimmers. Speeding tickets are earned each time a swimmer completes a new race without a disqualification and each time a swimmer beats their previous time. Hold on to those speeding tickets! The speeding tickets are currency for the speeding ticket store. Store dates are currently June 22 and July 20.
Home Meet June 10
PCST will be hosting Ken Caryl this upcoming Saturday, June 7. PCST families set up on the north and west sides of the pool leaving the east side of the pool available for the very large Ken Caryl team. We will be looking for concessions donations. Please check Swimtopia for those requests in the upcoming days. Volunteer shifts are open!
Team Photos and Pirates Cove
Team photos are this Wednesday, June 7, starting at 7:30am. Everyone please arrive by 7:45am for an 8:00am team photo. Your swimmer should wear their team suit, or their preferred meet suit if they do not have a team suit. All ordering is done online via Imagetek. You should’ve received ordering emails and may also order at the following https://vando.imagequix.com/g1001023736.
There will be no swim practice on Wednesday after photos. Instead, the team will meet at Pirates Cove starting at 10am for an informal team day at the water park. Team families usually set up on the west side of the park near the lazy river. Coaches will be there, but will not be supervising your swimmers. Please ensure your child has proper supervision for the day. Pirate’s Cove publishes a Buy One, Get One coupon, so be sure to check their website. As of now, weather looks OK for the day.
Kicks and Pics
As a reminder, swimmers are required to bring kickboards to practice daily. Also, we will be requesting your swim photos towards the end of the season to create a 2023 slideshow. Please take photos during meets! All types of photos are welcome - individuals, action shots, relays, candids, etc.
Looking Ahead
KCI June 23-24: The Ken Caryl Invite (KCI) is an annual invitational meet with qualifying times. The KCI will happen on Friday, June 23, and Saturday, June 24. The older groups (13&O) will swim earlier in the day on Friday and the younger groups (12&U) will swim Saturday. We’ll send specific session schedules when received. The KCI qualification times are attached to this email and on Swimtopia. From now on, meet results will highlight KCI qual times and will be listed at the header of each event in results sheets. Swimmers have two more meets, June 10 (home) and June 17 (away), to try to qualify for the invite.
Gator June 21: For those who do not qualify for the KCI, we will be hosting a virtual Gator Open on Wednesday, June 21, at Normandy Pool during morning practice. We request that all swimmers attend to cheer on their Gator teammates as they will be virtually competing against all other teams in the league. There will be several volunteer opportunities for this meet. It’s a very fun and very quick meet!
Swim fast!
