PCST Weekly Update

Congratulations on completing your first morning practice, Piranhas. It’s exciting and can also be very intimidating for both new and returning swimmers. There were so many successes this morning, including just getting there!

Welcome Back Picnic

The Welcome Back Picnic will be tomorrow, Wednesday, May 31, from 5:30-7:00pm on the north side of the Normandy pool building. Bring your lawn chairs, blankets and appetites. High Society Pizza and HipPOPs will be onsite available for ordering (details below). Swimmers will be tie dying shirts, so please plan on appropriate clothing. The Out of Breath orders are in and will be distributed. See you tomorrow night!

Morning Practices

Please refer to Coach Frankie’s email about practice times. Any questions, just let Frankie know. We appreciate having all parents and non swimmers staying off the pool deck during all practices. The west pavilion is open for use and getting in the sun on those cool mornings north of the zero entry pool is understandable. Please keep the east side clear for coaches and swimmers. If you have questions for Coach Frankie, save those until after all practices and send an email if needed. The playground outside of the pool area is open for use and Normandy Pool appreciates us not bringing our dogs onto the pool grounds. Normandy Pool would also like to request that our swimmers not wear bandaids in the pool. We hear they are hard on the drains and filters.

First Meet - at Woodbourne - June 3

The first meet is at Woodbourne with Bear Creek this Saturday, June 3. Coach Frankie will be collecting all meet entries by tomorrow evening’s picnic. The meet starts at 7am. The big kids warm up at 6am, the little kids warm up at 6:30am. Volunteers need to check in by 6:45am when there will be a timer and stroke and turn judge meeting. It looks like all volunteer shifts are full for Saturday, thank you. Shifts for the week open at 7am on Sundays. Log in to Swimtopia, go to About, and Calendar Sign Ups (not RSVP). You can also get to the signups through the app by clicking on the event. Families are requested to fulfill six volunteer shifts. Multi shifts are still open!

Team Photos and Pirates Cove

Team photos are coming up quick. Photos will be next Wednesday, June 7, starting at 7:30am. Everyone please arrive by 7:45am for an 8:00am team photo. Your swimmer should wear their team suit, or their preferred meet suit if they do not have a team suit. All ordering is done online via Imagetek and you will receive an email with your swimmers’ photo link. You may also order at the following https://vando.imagequix.com/g1001023736. As is tradition, the team will then meet at Pirates Cove starting at 10am for an informal team day at the water park. Team families usually sets up on the west side of the park near the lazy river. Coaches will be there, but will not be supervising your swimmers. Please ensure your child has proper supervision for the day. Pirate’s Cove usually publishes a Buy One, Get One coupon, so be sure to check their website.

The Weather

The forecast for the next couple of weeks looks interesting. PCST does practice and hold meets in the rain. Practices and meets would be canceled for weather threats (ie lightning) and extreme conditions (ie downpours and extreme temperatures). Mornings are usually chilly, but can feel even colder without sun and with rain. The pools are all heated, it’s getting out of the pool that can be hard. Along with towels, hoodies and blankets, socks or slippers for cold feet go a long way. Cancellations for any event would come via email, so watch your inboxes if you notice the weather may be a factor in our schedule.

Upcoming

Our first home meet will be against Ken Caryl on Saturday, June 10. We’ll be looking for some concessions donations and hoping for beautiful weather!

Swim fast!
