Spring Swim

The final Spring Swim will be this Sunday, May 21, at 4pm at LHS. The fee is $10 per swimmer per session, cash only at the door, including Venmo.

Last Day to Register

The last day to register for the 2023 season without a late fee will be May 22.

Afternoon Practices: May 22 - May 25

Weather permitting, there will be afternoon practices May 22 through May 25 at Normandy Pool. All 10 & under swimmers will practice from 4:30-5:30pm. All 11 & over swimmers will practice from 5:30-6:30pm. Check in is ten (10) minutes before practice start. These practices are optional and are included with your registration fee.

Volunteering

Volunteer shifts for each meet will open the Sunday before the meet at 7am. A required number of volunteer shifts for each family will be determined at the end of registration. Historically, the required shifts have averaged 6 per family. Please note SJSL is hosting the 2023 State Swim Meet. As such, participating swimmers’ families are requested to volunteer for at least one State shift. Any outstanding volunteer deposit checks are due by May 31 in order for your swimmer to participate in the first meet.

Multi Shift Volunteer Positions

Multi Shift volunteer positions are open. Available positions include Computer Tech Trainee, one (1) Volunteer Co-Coordinator, Starter Trainee, Donuts and Heating Area Coordinator. If you have questions about any of these positions, please reach out.

Stroke and Turn Judge Training

Yet another volunteer opportunity is Stroke and Turn Judging. These shifts are always available. Stroke and Turn Judge training will be held this upcoming Thursday, May 18, at Ken Caryl at 6pm for new judges, 6:30pm for returning judges (optional) OR Tuesday, May 23, at 6pm at Governor’s Ranch. This is a deck training to see the strokes in action.

First Morning Practice and First Meet

The first regular morning practices will be Tuesday, May 30. The first swim meet is the following Saturday, June 3, at Woodbourne. There will be an RSVP button on each calendar event to let Coach Frankie know if your swimmers are participating in any given meet. If you know you’re going to be out of town or otherwise unavailable for a meet, using the RSVP function is a huge help to Coach Frankie.

Welcome Back Picnic

The Welcome Back Picnic will be held on Wednesday, May 31, from 5:30-7:00pm at Normandy Pool. There will be a pizza food truck, team t-shirts to tie dye (for those of you who registered by May 1 and response received regarding shirt size) and Out of Breath orders from the first team store. This is also a great opportunity for swimmers to finalize their meet entry requests with Coach Frankie before Saturday’s meet.

Team Photos and Pirates Cove

Please note our team photo session is scheduled for Wednesday, June 7, starting at 7:30am. In lieu of practice that day, PCST will meet as a team at Pirate’s Cove at 10am (as of now, their website indicates they will be open for the season by Memorial Day). Look for more details regarding photos and Pirates Cove in later updates.
