PCST Weekly Update

Reminder, no practice tomorrow, July 4 or Tuesday, July 5. Swimmers come back full in force on Wednesday, July 6, in preparation for the next home meet.

Swim A Thon Pledges July 7

Thank you everyone who participated in the first annual Swim A Thon. PCST had so many swimmers complete goal distances and the look of achievement on their faces was priceless. All pledges with pledge sheets are due by Thursday, July 7 (extended one day), in order for swimmers to be entered into our raffle. Coaches will video the drawings and winners will be announced. Checks can be made out to PCST or Venmo @boardpcst. If your child did not get pledges, but still swam a ½ mile, mile or 100, please have them turn in a pledge sheet with the number of lengths indicated (or just turn in the count sheet) so these swimmers may be recognized for their achievement.

Home Meet July 9

The next meet is a home meet at Normandy Pool against Woodbourne on July 9. Please refer to Coach Frankie’s emails about meet entries. Warm up at 6:00am for big kids, 6:30am for little kids, volunteer check in and meeting at 6:45am and meet start at 7:00am. We are down to our last two dual/tri meets. If your swimmer has an Ironman goal (swimming each available event, without disqualification, at least once in a regular season meet), then it’s time to review the events needed. Volunteer shifts are open.

SJSL Championship Meet - League - July 22 and July 23

Mark your calendars, the SJSL Championship Meet is coming up. The 400s and 8&under 100 freestyle events will be swum at Bear Creek on Friday, July 22, with a meet start of 5pm. The remaining events will be swum at Governor’s Ranch on Saturday, July 23, with a meet start of 7am. All heats are finals, there will be no prelims. Coaches determine meet entries. The PCST volunteer commitment is set as two timers on Friday and nine timers total (3 shifts, 3 volunteers per shift) on Saturday. The league has requested that we communicate there are to be no sharpie drawings on swimmers (with the exception of event/heats/lanes). Part of the League Championship Meet is team spirit. The theme of spirit will ultimately be up to our coaches. However, feel free to offer suggestions for themes. Examples of past PCST spirit themes include The Incredibles and the 4th of July. Unless your swimmer has qualified for the State meet, the SJSL Championship Meet is the last meet of the season.

Enjoy a safe and happy Fourth of July!
