PCST Weekly Update

What a beautiful Saturday morning for a swim meet. Congratulations, Piranhas, on yet another team win and so many personal firsts and personal bests. Now on to a special meet week!

Gator Open Wednesday June 22 8:00am

The Gator Open is happening this Wednesday during morning practice at Normandy Pool. Please see Frankie’s email about practice vs. meet start times and Gator Open meet entries. To all who will be done with practice by 8am, stay and cheer on your teammates! The Gator is virtual, but these swimmers are actually racing against competitors from all league teams. And, as of now, we believe Kona Ice will be able to make our time change.

Ken Caryl Invite (7690 S Continental Divide Road) June 24-25

Frankie is submitting all entries for both the Gator Open and the Ken Caryl Invite by noon today. If you have not communicated your plans for the meets, please do so asap. Frankie’s email has all warm-up and start times for the KCI as well as meet entries. We will not know our volunteer requirements until next week when all meet entries are compiled. Based on the number of swimmers who have qualified, expect several timing shifts to open up. You are welcome to volunteer at KCI even if you do not have a swimmer participating. You would just need to be very aware of session start times to be at the Ken Caryl Pool in time for your shift. Go Piranhas and let’s hope for some KCI weather miracles!

Swim A Thon June 27

We are so excited to host our first annual Swim A Thon on Monday, June 27! This is a great way for swimmers to challenge themselves and see just how much they can swim during their normal practice time (a half mile? a full mile?) while helping out the team. All swimmers who complete the swim will leave with a team gift. Additionally, for every $10.00 collected, swimmers will receive 1 ticket for a chance to win a prize. Donations totaling over $50.00 will also get a chance at our special prize drawings. Some of the prizes include:

  • A free private lesson from one of your coaches
  • Ice cream with all of the coaches
  • Lunch with all of the coaches
  • A bag of goodies from Out of Breath
  • Free swag from SlipStream Aquatics

Please encourage swimmers to reach out to friends and family for pledges so they can earn their chance at some of these prizes! Parents/care givers/siblings are needed to act as length counters for our swimmers who may lose track swimming for as long and as far as they can. Attached please find pledge sheets. Thank you for supporting PCST!

Speeding Ticket Store June 28

Hold on to your speeding tickets! Jay and Olivia are putting speeding tickets for your swimmers in your family mailboxes. They are in plastic baggies. For convenience, it may be best to keep these baggies in your mailboxes for use in the first speeding ticket store happening on June 28 after each practice. What exactly is a speeding ticket? Each time a swimmer completes an event for the first time without disqualification or swims an event faster than their previous personal best, a speeding ticket is written up. Countless tickets are handed out each week as our piranhas are swimming faster and faster. The speeding tickets are then used as currency in the store.

Out of Breath Second Store Orders

For those of you who ordered swim suits from the second Out of Breath team store, those suits should come in next week.

Fourth of July

After our special meet week, the league has a bye week due to the Fourth of July holiday. Therefore, there will be no meet on Saturday, July 2. There will also not be practice on 7/1, 7/4 or 7/5. We hope this helps you make some holiday plans, even if it’s taking time to be at home, for the fourth.

See you at the meets!
