PCST Weekly Update
June 5, 2022 –PCST Weekly Update
Congratulations swimmers and parents on successfully completing (and winning!) your first meet. It was incredibly fun to watch the risk taking and perseverance, from swimmers taking their first dive ever through seasoned swimmers with the jitters. And nice weather!
Family Mailboxes
Don’t forget to start checking your family mailboxes. Starting this week, the mailboxes will have ribbons and speeding tickets for your swimmers. Hold on to those speeding tickets. We’ll have information later on the first speeding ticket store. The mailboxes are placed on the tables under the west pavilion during each morning practice.
Out of Breath Second Store through June 12
Out of Breath
has opened a second PCST store. The store includes team suits, only, and is
open until June 12. https://outofbreathsports.
First Away Meet – Saturday, June 11 – Bear Creek
Our first away meet is this Saturday, June 11, at Bear Creek. The meet starts at 7am. The big kids warm up at 6am, the little kids warm up at 6:30am. Coach Frankie will be attending an education conference that day, which is quite an honor for her. Our swimmers will be in good hands with Coach Esha and Coach Ben (aka Wolffie) as well as some guest coaches – Coach Dena and Coach Peggy.
Volunteer Shifts
Thank you to everyone who volunteered this past weekend. We truly couldn’t do it without you. Volunteer shifts are now open for Saturday’s meet. As a reminder, shifts will open at 7am on Sundays. You must log in, go to About, and Calendar Sign Ups (not RSVP). Prior to any meet shifts, please check in with our volunteer coordinator, Meredith Haworth, at least 15 minutes prior to your shift start.
PCST Photos and Pirates Cove – June 15
Individual and Team PCST photos will happen during morning practice on Wednesday, June 15, starting at 7:30am. Swimmers will not practice this morning, it’s pictures only. We traditionally use this day to head to Pirates Cove to meet up as a team. Pirates Cove says they are going to be open on June 15, so this is back on the schedule! You purchase your family tickets individually and, as a team, we try to gather on the southwest side of the park near the lazy river.
Ken Caryl Invite – June 24-25
The Ken Caryl Invite is an annual invitational meet with qualifying times. This year, the KCI will happen on Friday, June 24, and Saturday, June 25. New this year, the older groups (13+) will swim earlier in the day on Friday. The KCI has been plagued by the worst weather the last several years (think rain/sleet/storm warnings/40 degrees). The change in the Friday session start time is an effort to avoid the afternoon storms. Attached are details about all the different sessions. The meet results that Coach Frankie sends out after each meet identifies whether your child has qualified for the invite. There will be a KCI indication next to their time. The qualifying time is also listed at the header of each event in those results sheets.
Gator Open – June 22
For those who do not qualify for the KCI, we will be hosting a virtual Gator Open on Wednesday, June 22 at Normandy Pool. The start time is currently listed as 7pm and should last about an hour. There will be a Kona Ice truck at the pool and this may be the most important aspect of the whole meet for your swimmers. It’s a very fun and very quick meet!
Have a great week, Piranhas
