PCST Last Day to Register and Season Updates
There’s a lot going on, Piranhas. Hang in there, it’s the beginning of the season and there’s a ton of information to impart.
Spring Swim
The last Spring Swim is this Sunday, May 22, from 4-5pm at LHS. The Spring Swim fee is $10 per swimmer per session, cash only at the door, including Venmo. These are always optional practices.
Registration Ends May 22!
The last day to register is Sunday, May 22. For those of you who have already registered, thank you! If you’re still planning to register, please do so by May 22 to avoid late fees. Please remember a complete registration includes payment (you have been contacted by Peggy Merrill regarding payment methods) and a volunteer deposit check made out to PCST for $250. The deposit checks will be held and returned at the end of the season if all volunteer requirements have been met.
Volunteer Shifts
PCST is a small team this year, therefore, that means we are at a seven (7) shift requirement for the season. Please remember one of those shifts needs to be for a special event (ie KCI, etc.) or post season. PCST board members are taking on the meet set up and donuts shifts. There will be no donation shifts this year, though we will still be happy to accept concessions donations. There is a possibility we will be short volunteers and we will take all the help we can get. Prior to any meet shifts, please check in with our volunteer coordinator, Meredith Haworth, at least 15 minutes prior to your shift start. Timer and judge meetings also occur prior to shift starts to communicate expectations and hand out watches, etc.
Practice at Normandy May 24 and May 27
There will be two (2) evening practices before Normandy Pool officially opens. The practices will be Tuesday, May 24, and Friday, May 27. Swimmers 10 and under will practice from 4:30-5:30pm. Swimmers 11 and older will swim from 5:30-6:30pm. This is of course weather permitting. There is no fee for these practices and they are optional.
First Practice – Tuesday, May 31
The PCST first official daily morning practice will be Tuesday, May 31. Please double check your practice times on the Swimtopia website. The practice times are both age and ability based. Plan on attending your age-based practice time unless you have been contacted directly by Coach Frankie. If your swimmer is still in school the first week of practice, no problem, but please contact Coach Frankie.
The pool grounds, with the exception of the west pavilion, are closed to those not in the pool swimming or coaching. The southwest playground, located outside the pool fence, is open for use. Normandy Pool is also asking that swimmers place their belongings on the concrete deck and not the grass. A lot of the grass is new and fragile.
Welcome Back Picnic – Wednesday, June 1
The PCST Welcome Back Picnic will be held Wednesday, June 1, from 5:30pm-7pm. The Mac N Noodles food truck will be onsite as of 5pm for families wishing to order food. You are also welcome to bring your own picnic dinner. We will set up on the lawn on the north side of the pool building. Coach Frankie will finish collecting meet entries for our first home meet which is on Saturday, June 4. We also hope Out of Breath orders will be available for pickup at this time. See you on the 1st!
First Home Meet – Saturday, June 4
The first PCST meet will be a home meet at Normandy Pool against Governor’s Ranch. Volunteer Sign Ups for the meet will go live 7am the Sunday before any meet. Please remember volunteer deposit checks must be turned in in order for your swimmer to sign up for the meet. For those of you wondering, our away meet against CK is Columbine Knolls. South Jeffco Swim League welcomed Columbine Knolls to the league this season and we look forward to swimming with them.
Chipotle PCST Fundraiser – Saturday, June 4
Mark your calendars, we’ve got dinner covered after the first meet. PCST is holding a team fundraiser at the Chipotle located at 8100 W. Crestline Ave (Wadsworth) from 4-8pm. The fundraiser flyer is attached and note the online ordering code is D3YZAGK. Please support PCST and forward to friends and family!
Vacations/Missed Time
PCST anticipates most swimmers will be taking family vacations. This is completely normal and fits with the team expectations. The biggest ask we have for those missing practices and meets, please communicate directly with Frankie regarding dates that will be missed. This is very important when it comes to setting up meet entries and relays. Enjoy your travels!
Swim A Thon – Monday, June 27
In lieu of mile swim day, PCST will hold a Swim A Thon on Monday, June 27, during regular practice times. Pool length goals will range from 100 for the older swimmers to ½ mile (32 lengths) for the youngest swimmers. Some fun prizes are in the works, so get ready!
Business Sponsorships
PCST will be selling business sponsorships for the team. Sponsors who participate will have a logo banner displayed during all meets. If you or anyone you know has a business and are interested in supporting PCST with a team sponsorship, please email Megan [email protected] or Kerry [email protected]. Our contact info is always on the swimtopia website as well. Thank you for considering!
You made it to the end of the email! Thank you for your time and attention. These emails are always archived on the Swimtopia site for reference under About/News. Looking forward to seeing everyone soon!
