PCST - Pool News and Other Updates
Normandy Pool Update: We were informed last night that there is a possibility the issues with Normandy Pool may not be resolved by our first day of practice, June 1. Pool pipes were damaged during a sewer repair and are in the process of being fixed. Normandy is doing absolutely everything they can to get the pool open for our team and for their members. We will get updates from them daily on the status of the pool. In the event the pool is unable to open by June 1, the PCST Board is now exploring all options for an alternate temporary practice location. We will communicate to you what we learn and what is planned as the week goes on. This does mean the afternoon practices we had originally hoped to hold at Normandy this upcoming week are not going to occur. Thank you for your patience as we mitigate the situation and thank you for your grace towards Normandy Pool as they manage a very difficult situation. Communication to the team will come via email throughout this process.
Schedule Updates: The Gator Open (for swimmers not participating in the KC qualifying meet) will be virtual and is scheduled for 7pm on Wednesday, June 23. The league has also decided to add a virtual meet to each team’s schedule so we are competing against every team in the league. Therefore, we will hold a virtual meet during morning practice on Wednesday, June 30, against Bear Creek.
Volunteers: Meet volunteer shifts will likely open weekly before each meet. Any non-meet shifts may open as early as this week. Thank you in advance for your time.
Swimtopia: We use Swimtopia as our registration and communication platform. This summer, the entire SJSL is using the Swimtopia capability for meet entries and results reporting. We’re all new to this part of Swimtopia, but we keep hearing the platform is great for tracking swimmers’ progress through their app. The app without the meet functionality added is not exactly robust, so we’ll try it out and see how it goes.
Coaches: We are delighted to have Coach Frankie back with us this summer. We are also excited to welcome Coach Alyssa, Coach Julianna and Coach Sully for the 2021 season. They can’t wait to say hello to all our swimmers and help guide them in their team and personal success.
Hang in there, Piranhas, we’ll get through our bumps in the road and have a great season.
