PCST May 3 Update

Hello Piranhas

You've made it to May, no small feat, hope all continue to be well.

We would love to tell you we know what exactly is happening for the 2020 season.  Unfortunately, we are unable to do that at this time.  We are waiting for more state and local guidance on youth sports as well as decisions from local pools, our SJSL and the state board.

We have been discussing what a potential 2020 season could look like based on webinars from USA Swimming and recommendations from our Swimtopia partners.  It is unlikely to look like any season we've ever experienced, so we'd like you to know what could possibly happen in order for us to get our kids in the pool:

1.  Practices may be limited to a specific number of swimmers, with a specific number of swimmers per lane, with siblings swimming in the same lane when practicable/possible.  Swimmers would receive lane assignments and they would remain the same for the season.  Swimmers would stagger their start locations.

2.  Practices may be shortened to accommodate at least one additional practice per day in order to increase the number of swimmers who may participate.

3.  Swimmers may enter the pool area on the west side gate to begin practice and exit through the north side pool doors upon practice completion via a coordinated car line.  We have a tentative map of where bags would be placed for each practice group to direct foot traffic flow and to limit the number of swimmers coming in close contact.

4.  Parents may enter the pool grounds only if following social distancing guidelines including distancing and face masks.  Pool furniture may not be used.  We would anticipate many parents may wish to wait in cars.

5.   The restrooms may be open for bathroom use, only.  They may not be used as locker rooms.  Therefore, swimmers will come dressed in swim suits and leave in swim suits.

6.  Swim meets may be virtual (dual meets - both teams swim at their own pools, compared times) or intra-squad, only.

These items are in draft form only and are in no way finalized.  We just wanted you to know we're trying to brainstorm ways to make a season possible with the anticipated guidelines received from state and local governments.  More information should come in the next couple of weeks.  Flexibility with team registration deadlines continues.

PCST does have a team store open at this time through Out of Breath.  It may be found below and on the team website.  Out of Breath is dealing with all the same things we are.  You must know up front that anything ordered with a team logo or personalization may not be returned.  Suggestions are to size up and to keep personalization to last names for longevity of the items should you choose to order.  Please know team apparel, including suits, are never required for PCST.  Out of Breath currently has a May 17 order deadline through they are trying to get that extended.

Take care, Piranhas, and we hope to have more information for you soon.
